Obuasi East NDC Parliamentary Candidate pay courtesy call on former President John Dramani Mahama.

Hon. Samuel Aboagye with some party executives and Obuasi Small Scale Mining Association called on former President John Dramani Mahama at his office in Accra.

The delegation included William Kofi Adzowu, Obuasi East NDC Secretary, Kofi Adam, Obuasi Small Scale Mining Chairman and two executives Kennedy Baizua, Zakaria Seidu, and the “Mahama Afa” Hit maker, Kojo Bee.

The purpose of the visit was to give President John Dramani Mahama, first hand information about the current situation in Obuasi, especially with the small scale mining and also introduce the Mahama Afa hit maker.

He also appealed to the former Prez. to come to the aide of Adansiman to safe the dying towns.

According to Hon. Samuel Aboagye, the good people of Obuasi were enjoying life during the time of former president John Dramani Mahama because of the regulated small scale mining.

The NDC PC bemoaned how this super incompetent NPP government led by President Akuffo Addo promised the chiefs and Adansiman of an improved mining sector prior to the 2016 election, this political gimmicks and lies has left the old known economically byont Obuasi to what it is now.

The NPP government introduced their so called “community mining” in place of Galasey, this has brought hardship to the people of Obuasi. Political colourisation has bedevilled the small scale mining. Only NPP persons have a field day.

Hon. Samuel Aboagye also appealed to the former President to consider the Obuasi Area as a suitable place for a mining hub, taking into consideration the keen interest of the people who live in that enclave.

Former President John Dramani Mahama thanked the PC and his team for the visit.

President John Dramani Mahama assured small-scale miners in Ghana that under his administration, they will be allowed to engage in their mining business but under supervision.

He said miners depend on the minerals for survival; hence, his administration will not deny them from engaging in their trade. Mr Mahama however, explained that small scale mining activities will be properly regulated when elected again as President.
