It’s a shame, don’t politicise covid-19 fight – Opoku Mensah

Ashanti regional communicator of New Patriotic Party(NPP) has taken a swipe at persons politicizing the fight against covid-19 amid the voter registration exercise.

On the ‘Pure Morning Drive’ on Wednesday, July 22, Opoku Mensah said it’s a big shame to politicize the fight against the novel corona virus, ‘most especially during this voter registration period’ [adding] that every registration center must ensure protocols bare observed at the registration centres.

I personally visited TI Amass registration center and there was absolute social distancing and a well arranged spaced out chairs for people to sit. The nurses checks the temperature of the people before the process begins,’’ Mr. Opoku Mensah explained.

However, he stated

”Covid-19 protocols are ‘’try and error’’ which is being practiced around the world. Government has worked enough to curb the virus spread. The political parties must avoid using this as a bait to counter government. All that is needed now is to raise awareness, let the people know that the virus is real. Enough of the criticisms” He said.

In contrast with that, a member of the National Democratic Congress, Joseph Yamin stated the 2 metre arrangement of chairs by the registration officers at the centres are being overlooked. With centres mostly congested. This he said was observed during monitoring at some registration centres.

”Let me acknowledge that more people are making time out of their busy schedules to register which is really encouraging” he added.
