The Eastern regional minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Daffour has commissioned a COVID-19 treatment centre at the Atua Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister commended the management of Atua Government Hospital for their efforts to turn the male ward into a treatment centre to help the fight against the disease.
The minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw Constituency took the opportunity to visit the COVID-19 patients at their isolation center at Kpone.
Dr Alberta Britwum Nyarko who is the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service appreciated the efforts of the management of the Atua Government Hospital.
He however appealed to the public to donate beds to the treatment centre so that it can handle more cases if the needs arise.
She revealed that 95 patients out of 134 on admission have recovered from the disease in the region.
She further urged all citizens to stop stigmatizing patients.
