Sensational Ghanaian high-life and afrobeats singer-songwriter, Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi has stated categorically that nothing will push him to compose a campaign song for any political party in Ghana.
Some entertainment players have composed songs and have campaigned for political parties in the country which some Ghanaians believe that the move have affected their music and acting career.
The Afrobeat singer-songwriter KiDi speaking in an interview with Angel Drive hosted by Ike De Unpredictable said he has no intention to do a song for any political party in Ghana.
“Ike, I don’t know what will push me to do a song for any political party in Ghana. I’m neutral and I don’t belong to any political party though I vote. The moment you do a song for any political party, people will start tagging you with political colours and your supporters will be divided because of politics” Kidi explained.
Kidi further said: “I will perform at any event of a political party if they invite me. I will go to the event and perform as Kidi and leave there as Kidi.
“Performing at political party event does not mean you belong or support that party. Today I will perform at New Patriotic Party(NPP) event, tomorrow you will see me performing at National Democratic Congress(NDC) event and the next day you will see me performing at the event of other political parties. I will charge before I perform so I’m doing business” he said.
The young musician explained that entertainment players who have composed songs or have campaigned for political parties have reasons for doing that and ‘we don’t have to condemn them’. I have my reason why I will never do a song for any political party and nothing can change my mind” he added.
