Bekwai Government Hospital records 2 new cases of COVID-19 again


Two new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the Bekwai government hospital in the Ashanti Region.

This brings the total case count to 4 with 2 recoveries and no death.

The Medical Superintendent of Bekwai Government Hospital Dr. Frank Serebour confirmed the news during his submission on ‘Pure Morning Drive’ hosted by Kwame Adinkra.

According to Dr. Frank Serebour, some medical workers at the Bekwai Government Hospital have been placed under mandatory quarantine after two patients they were treating tested positive to the virus.

“I’m not privy to the actual cases of COVID-19 recorded in other health centres in the Bekwai Municipality; but 4 cases have been been recorded in the Bekwai Government Hospital so far. One (1) female and 1 (male) were tested positive of COVID-19 but they are receiving treatment. They have been transferred from the hospital to Kumasi for treatment” Dr Frank Serebour said.

On Monday, April 6, 2020, two patients, one a 28-year old male and 56 years old female samples were taken after exhibiting signs and symptoms of the Coronavirus upon arrival at the hospital and taken to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) for testing which came out positive.

However, the both of the patients recovered.

Ghana’s coronavirus cases currently stand at 5,918 after 188 new cases have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service.

The number of recorded deaths have also increased by two bringing the new number to 31.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries still stands at 1,754 since the previous update on May 16, 2020.
