Tourism Minister, Barabara Oteng Gyasi, has confirmed that drinking bars in the country still remain shut as part of the protocols for dealing with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister’s clarification followed an order from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for bars and restaurants to open for business.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s press conference on Thursday, the Minister said the order by the President for beer bars to remain closed still stands.
She further called on Ghanaians to disregard the reports that people can walk into drinking bars to purchase alcohol.
“Drinking bars and nightclubs remain closed. Restaurants and eateries are allowed to operate take out and delivery services,” she said.
