As part of the efforts to curb the novel COVID-19 pandemic in the Manya Krobo municipality, Nene Sackitey II, Konor of Manya Krobo Traditional Council in the Eastern region instituted an emergency trust fund amid to put together resources to fight the disease.
The fund that is aimed at gathering enough funds to support the fight against the disease in the area has so far generated Gh¢34,300.
Mr Godfred Offoe Caesar, the secretary for the COVID-19 emergency trust fund disclosed in an interview with Angelfmonlinegh.com that the amount has been realised from generous donors.
The following groups and individuals has donated cheques with various amounts of money to the fund:
▪Konor for Manya Krobo Traditional Council, Nene Sackitey II – GHC 22,000).
▪Railway Minister, Hon. Joe Ghartey – 5,000.
▪Five hundred hundred Ghana CEDI’s (500.00) was also aided into the fund by a citizen of the Manya Krobo enclave.
▪Volta River Authority (VRA) responded to their call for support in fighting the pandemic by presenting a cheque of five thousand Ghana CEDI’s (5,000) with PPEs.
▪Two Ghanaians living in abroad also supported the covid-19 emergency fund with Thousand Eight hundred Ghana cedis (1,800.00).
The amount would be used to take care of the needs of residents of both Lower and Upper Manya Krobo areas.
“We have put measures in place and will do the exact account plainly. We will give the public account of any amount received and investment we do,” he emphasized.
Mr Caesar appealed to the public to support the COVID-19 emergency fund to help combat the pandemic since Lower Manya Krobo municipality has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the Eastern Region.
