Presidential candidate of the United Front Party (UFP), Kwasi Addai Odike has accused the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and his government of always lying to Ghanaians about the disease.
Ghana has so far recorded 4700 confirmed cases of the disease with 22 deaths and 494 recoveries.
The ban on public gatherings was extended to the end of May 2020 as part of efforts to contain the spread of the disease.
Commenting on this on Angel In the Morning on Angel 96.1fm in Kumasi, Odike said that President and government has been lying to Ghanaians about the disease.
The figures given out, he said is never a true reflection of the disease.
“From two confirmed cases, we have had a huge jump to 4700 confirmed cases in less time and you want to tell us you are in charge, how can you be in charge when the disease is fast spreading, they have been lying to us…,” he said in Twi.
He further claimed that the government has been downplaying the impact of the disease on the country so that the Electoral Commission (EC) can go along with the compilation of the voters register.
To him, the compilation of the register is a non-starter adding that that could lead to the spread of the disease.
