Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin has asserted that the Ghanaian topflight football currently lack exciting players as compared to previous years.
According to Mr Yamin, the Ghana Premier League clubs lack players with exceptional qualities that can convince football loving fans to patronize games during match days.
Speaking to Koforidua based Bryt FM as monitored by Angelfmonlinegh.com, he said:
“The Ghana league does not have exciting players, however, it is difficult for a Ghanaian supporter to even mention the first 11 of Kotoko or Hearts of Oak because the players at their folds now are on and off. They are not exciting,” he said.
In doing diligence to the matter, he stressed that the current crop of players who patronise the local football can’t boast of their qualities, hence cannot be compared to some greats who have left a mark in our game.
“The players lack some qualities as compared to that of Charles Taylor, Don Bortey, and Ishmael Addo’s era.
“So I think that has derailed the rise of the league because when fans go to the stadium, they don’t get what they want now” Joseph Yamin opined.
