Each Black Stars player still takes home $10,000 as winning bonus, Ghana Football Association (GFA) legacy debt report has shown.
According to the report which was published by Joy News, the players are not paid $5,000 as winning bonus as has been claimed by Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah.
The Sports Minister had claimed during the AFCON tournament in Gabon in 2017 that the players had agreed to take $5,000 as winning bonus.
There were reports that the winning bonus had been reviewed to $10,000 during the Egypt 2019 but Deputy Sports Minister, Perry Okudzeto said the reports was false.
“We have not increased or slashed the winning bonus for the Black Stars players. The winning bonus is still $5000,” he said at the time.
The GFA legacy debt document has however exposed the claims by the Minister as the document shows that the winning bonus for the team for the 2021 AFCON Qualifier was $10,000.
The legacy debt document further reveals that former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah was also on a salary of $35,000 per month, and winning of $20,000.
The document further reveals that Kwesi Appiah is owed four months’ salaries and two matches worth of bonuses.
