Two National Security officers, dismissed soldier arrested for robbery


Two officers who are members of the National Security Secretariat and a soldier who has been dismissed from the army have been arrested for robbery in Asankragua in the Western Region.

They were arrested with six others for allegedly robbing a mine in the area.

The names of the suspects were given as George Osei, 35, National Security, Asomdwe Park Accra; Patrick Fordjour 29, taxi driver, Kumasi; and Samuel Obeng 35, an allegedly dismissed soldier from the army.

The rest are: Anas Adams, 35 years, a National Security personnel of Jubilee House operations; George Ohene Adjei 56, driver, Jonathan Aryer 28, unemployed; Agyeman Jackson, 29, unemployed and Isaac Okuampah 29, painter.

According to a statement from the Police, the suspects were arrested on Saturday, April, 25, 2020 on board an unregistered black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

One Kofi Asante, who was said to be the driver of the vehicle however managed to escape.

The Police statement further said that the arrested persons robbed a mining company known as Atalla in the area.

Samuel Obeng allegedly wore a military uniform during the operation.

The suspects are in custody while investigations continue.
