The CEO of Bechem United, Kingsley Osei Bonsu popular known as Lord Ziko has threatened to close down the Fosu Gyeabour Park to all government official programs if the Bechem Municipal Assembly fails to assist with the upkeep of the park.
Mr Bonsu made this in an exclusive interview with Saddick Adams on Angel Fm on Monday Night.
According to him, the Bechem Municipal Assembly have not been supportive to the course of the building of the Park.
“The Assembly told the owner of the club, Mr Kingsley Owusu Achiaw to complete the park and he will be reimbursed but still there has never been any commitment from the assembly,” he noted.
Lord Ziko also revealed that the club owns the stadium and don’t charge the assembly and the municipality when ever there is a programme hosted by the government at the park.
Explaining why they do not charge the municipality and the assembly when they use the park, he said they believe that it is part of their social responsibility and in so doing hope the assembly will help them develop it to the status of a stadium.
Ziko indicated that several letters written to the assembly for them to help develop the Park into a stadium have not been replied to.
Speaking on whether the 2019 /2020 season should be canceled or continued due to COVID-19, he noted that:
“It is too early to say we should continue or cancel the league. We need to give ourselves some time and see what happens and depending on results from the government and the health directories we can not decided for now.
“He also indicated that the club is using this period to complete the stands at the Nana Fosu Gyeaabour park to meet the criteria of the Club Licensing Board .
