At least 49 persons were arrested by the Police in Akaporiso in Obuasi for breaching public gathering directives issued by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The 49 persons, according to information gathered by Angelfmonlinegh.com attended a wedding ceremony in the town.
The arrested persons included the groom, Philip Ahenekwa, aged 35, and the bride, Ama Frema, aged 40.
They have all been placed in custody.
Some of the guest, according to the Obuasi Municipal Police Commander, DSP Martin Asenso, managed to escape arrest.
Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that as part of measures to deal with the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), public gatherings should be limited to only 25 people.
The same directive banned church services and other forms of gatherings.
