The Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kwaku Buah has stated categorically that the Police will enforce lock down directive to deal with recalcitrant traders in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Fifteen (15) traders were arrested this morning at Dr Mensah Market by joint Security Taskforce and KMA taskforce for breaching the partial lock down directive by President Akufo-Addo.
ACP Kwaku Buah speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo said traders who were arrested for breaching the lock down directive will face the law.
“We are going to enforce the law to deal with those who want to take the law into their own hands. Before the lock down, we visited all the market places including the KMA boss, Hon Osei Assibey Antwi to educate the traders about the lock down and the Covid-19 but it seems they don’t want to obey simple instructions and directives” ACP Kwaku Buah said.
“Government cannot fight COVID-19 if the public especially the traders fail to follow directives. Covid-19 is dangerous disease but majority of Ghanaians are joining with it”.
ACP Kwaku Buah disclosed that the arrested traders have been handed over to Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office.
