Independence Day: KMA, other Associations to embark on clean up exercise


Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) will embark on a massive clean up exercise in the metropolis on Saturday February 29, 2020 ahead of Independence celebration in the Ashanti Regional capital.

Twenty-six (26) traders’ associations including twenty-four (24) Drivers’ Unions are expected to join the exercise.

According to Mr. Bassanyin, two hundred (200) waste bins have been installed at vantage points to aid domestic waste disposal.

Mr. Bassanyin assured that KMA commitment to fight against Sanitation in the metropolis is on course and yielding good results.

He therefore charged the public to change their attitude towards sanitation.

Last year the event was celebrated in Tamale in the Northern region for the first time in the history of the Republic.

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley will be a special guest at the Ghana’s 63rd Independence Day parade scheduled to be held in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital on 6 March.

Chairman for the anniversary’s Planning Committee, Laud Commey, who disclosed this said the Independence Day celebration will be on the theme: “Consolidating Our Gains”.
