Kumasi: 12 hospitalized following clashes at Abattoir

There was an uneasy calm in Kumasi Abattoir as two factions clashed over the election of Chief Butcher.

The two factions are fighting over the position of the chief butcher which became vacant following the death of the holder of that office.

12 persons sustained injuries after the clash between the two factions.

The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Godwin Ahianyo who narrated the incident to Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo said “there was instruction from the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) that no one should hold himself as a chief for which a committee has been set to look into the issue”.

According to ASP Ahianyo, both leadership have been charged for disturbing public peace at a public place.

The leadership of the factions are currently on bail and will be processed for court.

Two persons contesting the position, Alhaji Muntari Baturi and Alhaji Wahab have also been charged.
