Kumasi: Dagombaline fire outbreak cause of recent power outages – ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the recent intermittent power cuts that in some parts of Ashanti Region to the recent fire outbreak in Dagombaline in Kumasi.

Electricity consumers in some parts of Ashanti Region have complained about power outages for over two weeks.

The affected communities stayed in total darkness for hours.

The Ashanti Regional PRO of the ECG, Mr. Erasmus Kyere Baidoo said the fire outbreak which occurred at Dagombaline in the Oforikrom Municipality is the cause of power cuts in some parts of the region.

According to Mr. Erasmus Baidoo, the fire outbreak at Dagombaline which burnt a 33 KV pylon has unfortunately worsened the case.

Mr Baidoo allayed the fears of residents of Kumasi that planned power cuts also known as ‘Dumsor’ was about to return to the Ashanti Region.

“ECG is currently not experiencing any challenges that could lead to ‘Dumsor’ returning, so the people should not worry about anything.

“The fact is let’s not over blow the interruptions because of our experience with “dumsor”. Dumsor is obnoxious and no one wishes for it. We are not in a DUMSOR era. The outages we are experiencing shall surely end and all shall come to pass,” he added.
