The National Sports Authority in a release on 17th February 2020 confirmed the closure of Baba Yara Sports Stadium to pave way for renovation works to be carried out.
This means football clubs that have adopted the stadium as their home grounds need to look elsewhere for support.
Kumasi based premier league side, Kumasi King Faisal Babies Football Club have welcomed the news in good faith and claimed the closure will be a ‘blessing’.
The ‘Insha Allah’ boys are yet to pick up a win from 5 home games in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
Speaking to Saddick Adams on Angel FM Accra on Monday evening, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of King Faisal, Awal Mohammed stated that the club is confident that moving from Baba Yara Stadium will be good for the club.
“The closing of Baba Yara Stadium to pave way for renovation works will be a blessing in disguise,” he said.
Touching on the possible destination to be adopted as their new home grounds, Awal confirmed that the board will meet to conclude on the possible destination, but also revealed that Obuasi Len Clay, and Sunyani Coronation Park, are possible places they consider using.
Meanwhile, Kumasi King Faisal are set to play Legon Cities on Wednesday in the Week 11 of Ghana Premier League at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
