Kumasi Asante Kotoko won the bragging rights over their arch rivals, Hearts of Oak in the Week 6 fixture of the ongoing Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors reigned supreme over the Accra-based side by beating them by two goals to one.
The phobians started the game on a high note as they mounted pressure on the Porcupine Warriors who created few chances in the opening minutes.
However, the Fabulous boys responded with resilience and hard work as robust midfielder, Justice Blay opened the scoring with a powerful header on the 17th minute after connecting home Augustine Okrah’s superb free-kick.
The home side then responded with zeal and took the game to the visitors searching for the equalizer but the away side held their guns to stop the latter’s attacking front.
The first department of the game ended with Kotoko leading Hearts of Oak 1-0 to put smile on the face of it’s cherished supporters.
After recess, Coach Nii Odoom’s Hearts of Oak never gave up as they kept pushing for the equalizer and finally got it through star man, Joseph Esso.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs talisman Joseph Esso restored parity for the Phobians with a close-range finish on the 65th minute in a rebound after a headed corner hit the cross bar.
On the stroke of regulation time as the game was heading for a draw, Kotoko was awarded a penalty after Hearts of Oak defender, Robert Addo handled Christopher Nettey’s shot in the box on the 90th-minute mark.
With an opportunity and only added on time to decide the fate of the fabulous family, Nabby Keita who stepped out boldly in front of thousands of intimidating fans made no mistakes as he slotted home from the spot kick to win all three points for the visiting team.
