The Ashanti Regional Circles chairman of Kumasi Kotoko, Obeng Sekyere has said that the absence of the club’s top striker, Songne Yacouba won’t negatively affect the Kotoko team when they face arch rivals, Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
There have concerns about the huge amount Yacouba is demanding before he extends his stay with the Kumasi based club when his contract expires.
Commenting on this saga, Obeng Sekyere said the exclusion of the goal poacher won’t affect the club.
He further explained that Songne Yacouba will be excluded from the match day squad because he is not mentally fit to feature in such a high profile game.
Speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC FM, Chairman Obeng Sekyere believes the absence of the who has failed to take his chances in five appearances for Kotoko in the ongoing season will have no impact on the team in the super clash.
“Since Yacouba has made up his mind not to sign for Kotoko again, psychologically he is not sound and needs to be replaced by an equally good player on Sunday against Hearts of Oak.
“We (supporters) have no problem if he decides to rest for his days left.
“Kotoko has lost games which he [Yacouba] was part so his exclusion will not have any problem on the team” Obeng Sekyere said.
