Senegalese Skipper, Sadio Mané is CAF Best Player of the year


Liverpool and Senegalese international, Sadio Mané has been crowned the Best Men’s Footballer on the African continent at the 2019 CAF Awards.

Mané who was adjudged the King of African Football beat teammate and compatriot Mohammed Salah and Riyad Mahrez at the ceremony held in Hurghada, Egypt.

The Liverpool star with his remarkable year under review, led the Teranga Lions of Senegal to the finals of the AFCON for the first time since 2002 only to be defeated by eventual winners Algeria.

He was the joint top scorer of the English Premier League together with African Brothers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and team mate Mohammed Salah with 22 goals each.

Sadio Mane with his sterling show piece under the 2019 year of review was also crowned the fourth best player at the recently held Balon d’Or Awards behind Messi, Van Dirk and C. Ronaldo scoring 27 goals with 16 assists in 56 Matches.

The former Southampton hitman who had a successful year laid his hand on the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup before climaxing it with the FIFA Club World Cup in December last year.

Mane becomes the only Senegalese player to win the prestigious individual prize since countryman El Hadji Diouf won it in 2002.
