The Ghana Football Association (GFA) appointed legal practitioner, Prosper Harrison Addo as the body’s new General Secretary but the decision was met with mixed reactions and set tongues wagging.
Notable among the people to have fiercely criticized the appointment is owner of Division One side, Amidaus FC, who has described the move as “shameful, childish and wrong on all fronts”.
Baba Gedo has even threatened to quit Ghana football because according to him, the appointment is an ‘endorsement and reward for injustice and integrity crisis’.
Reacting to the appointment in an interview with Angel 102.9FM’s Floodlight Sports, Gedo has expressed his disgust, insisting that Harrison Addo is not fit to hold such position against the backdrop of his past records of committing “deliberate mistakes” that shamed Ghana Football on the global level.
“If appointment like Lawyer Prosper Addo as the GFA General Secretary in Ghana Football I will leave football and use my money to rear cattle, we can’t continue like this.
“He is least fit for the position after all the scandals he superintended as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee in the erstwhile administration. He was appointed merely because of his closeness to the GFA President and some of us will eternally speak against it,” he said.
He added that he is also disappointed in the Executive Committee members of the GFA especially Randy Abbey and Mark Addo for affirming this appointment.
