The Priest in charge of Saint Mary’s Parish in Asamankese in the Diocese of Koforidua, Reverend Father Paul Tordzro has described critics of government’s flagship policy, Free SHS as ‘hypocrites’.
He said the time is up for political party leaders to put aside partisan politics and join hands to support the social intervention policies introduced by leaders of the country.
He called on them to find ways of sustaining such a great social intervention policy like Free SHS.
Speaking to the Asamankese congregation of the Catholic Church when Mr Seth Oduro, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Akim Municipal Assembly visited the area to educate the people on the upcoming Referendum and the Assembly elections in December 17 2019.
According to the Catholic Priest, the policy has relieved him financially because he was paying fees of most brilliant but needy students in his church from his pocket.
“I was a poultry farmer at Akim Ofoase Parish and used to donate all my income to pay SHS fees of church members who come to me for support and normally spend more than my farming income.
“I know people who frequently speak against this free SHS Policy because they think the government is spending huge state funds on it but the same people’s ward are enjoying the policy, what kind of hypocrisy is this? the priest quizzed,” he said.
Reverend Father Paul Tordzro therefore called on Ghanaians to pray for the leaders of the country so they can plan more social intervention policies for the citizens.
