The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has said that the government will not overspend its budget in the year 2020, which is an election year.
One of the major headaches in Ghana is the constant overspending of the country’s budget during elections years.
Many government have almost always complained of overspending their budgets during such years.
Presenting the 2020 budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Ofori-Atta assured that the government will ensure fiscal discipline during the year.
He assured that every sector of the economy will operate within its stated budget.
“Perennial excessive spending will not happen in this election period…,” he said.
He further assured the Electoral Commission (EC) that the government will make available all the logistics it need for the 2020 elections.
“All the needed resources required for the 2020 elections would be made available to the EC for a free, fair and credible elections in Ghana…,” he said.
