The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) has hinted of creating strategic fuel stocks as a buffer against the international supply shocks.
Speaking at a three-day seminar that offered training to journalists on how to play an effective oversight role in promoting good Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) and State Participation in the extrative sector, General Manager in charge of sustainability of GNPC, Dr Kwame Baah Nuako disclosed that; “GNPC is constructing a modern research and technology center that will offer an electronic storage center for GNPC geoscience, engineering and a production data”
“GNPC will again create fuel self sufficiency to yield Ghana against adverse geopolitical effects” he stressed.
The seminar was held on theme “Strengthening Media Capacity to Play an Effective Oversight Role in Promoting Good Governance of State-Owned Enterprises and State Participation.”
It was organized by the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), civil society organisation (CSO) that helps people to realize the benefits of countries endowments of oil, gas and minerals.
The seminar was also aimed at improving journalists’ ability to interrogate and interpret public debates on SOE governance and ensure balanced reporting with immediate objectives, to build the capacity of the media to be able to hold the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) and other extractive sector SOEs to account on corporate governance issues.
