Teachers of Esereso D/A JHS in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region have threatened to embark on sit down strike if the government fails to call on construction firm, Kofi Job to fix the Atonsu-Bosomtwe Road.
The road which was awarded to Kofi Job Construction Limited has been abandoned for some time now.
The students, teachers and some residents on Friday blocked the road as part of a protest to demand that government fix the road.
The assistant headteacher of the School, Mr. Sarfo Manu Edmund in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo Ambassador explained that the situation is leading to lots of health hazards in the school.
According to him, the dusty road has also been affecting teaching and learning in the school.
“The situation is difficult for us seriously. We can’t take it anymore. Some of the students have respiratory problem. The asthmatic students are suffering more. We are tired of the situation. We will advice ourselves if authorities fail to address our grievances” Mr. Safo Manu said.
Meanwhile the former assembly member of Esereso West electoral area, Joseph Yeboah charged Kofi Job Construction Limited to water the road to reduce the dust on the road.
The Assemblyman has threatened to lead massive demonstration against Kofi Job Construction Limited if their concerns are not addressed.
“I wasn’t surprise when I heard the action of students and teachers at Esereso D/A JHS including some residents. I will meet Kofi Job construction Limited authorities to fix the problem. I will personally lead a massive demonstration against Kofi Job construction Limited if they don’t do anything about the problem,” he said.
