Mubarak Wakaso to miss South Africa and Sao Tome AFCON Qualifiers

Ghana midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso is expected to be operated upon after he fractured his right hand in his teams’ 4-2 defeat to Osasuna at Estadio El Sadar this weekend in the La Liga, the club has confirmed.

The surgery is scheduled for today, Tuesday 5th of November 2019 to determine how long he will be on the sidelines.

The surgery puts him in serious doubt for Ghana’s two Afcon qualifiers later this month.

Wakaso who is part of Kwesi Appiahs 23-man squad for South Africa and Sao Tome games is expected to arrive in Ghana for camping on 12 November, 2019.

His absence will be a huge blow for his club Deportivo Alaves who are currently 2 points away from the relegation zone in the La Liga Santander.

Waakaso who has been a consistent and an integral member of the Black Stars of Ghana may be replaced by Coach James Akwesi Appiah ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
