The captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Felix Annan has apologized to the fans of the club for their inability to make it into the group stage of this years’ CAF Confederations Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors were shown the exit from the competition by Ivorian side, San Pedro having lost by 2 goals to 1 on aggregate.
Speaking to the media, the captain reiterated that he feels sorry for the teaming fans who traveled all the way to Abidjan to cheer them to qualify.
“I feel hurt for our fans who traveled from Ghana to Cote d’Ivoire to support us.
“I feel their pain and I think if I were in their shoes, I would have reacted and done worse than they did. All I want to say is a big sorry to them.
The skipper believes that per Kotoko’s pedigree they should have eliminated San Pedro club.
“With due respect to San Pedro, but I don’t think this is a team that should stop us from qualifying to the group stage. This is the most painful defeat I have ever had in my Kotoko career. I do not know how to explain it. Our attitude and mental toughness were not there because it is painful how we lost. We cannot be committing these sorts of mistakes at this stage,’’ he said.
