A commercial bus driver, Akwesi Odei is battling for his life at Amanfrom Polyclinic near Kasoa after two police officers allegedly assaulted him in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
According to the drivers, one of the police officers stopped him at McCarthy Hill and demanded GHC 50 for committing an unspecified driving offence while driving from Kaneshie to Agona Swedru.
The driver was said to have informed Mr Odei that he can’t afford the GHC 50 but can only afford GHC 20; an amount which the Police Office refused to accept.
According to the Driver, one of the Police Officers asked him to drive on but he noticed the Police was chasing him with a Nissan Navara pick up.
He gave the registration number of the Navara Pick Up as GP 3770.
He however ignored the Police Car and continued driving on until he reasched Kasoa Official town where some Police officers crossed him and started beating him up.
The continuous beating from the Police Officers made him go unconscious and was rushed to Amanfrom Polyclinic where he was revived.
