The New Patriotic Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has labelled the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as an institution which is increasingly becoming ‘lame’ and ‘bogus’.
According to him, the GRA is becoming a bogus institution because it does not keep records of their transactions with customers insisting he has evidence to back his claims.
Speaking on Net 2 TV as monitored by Angelfmonlinegh.com, the NPP firebrand said on 13th September 2017, he went to the GRA branch at Madina to pay taxes for his media house but the authority did not have records of taxes he had been filing.
This, he said, is enough to expose the fact the institution has poor record keeping; something he said is very disturbing.
The NPP MP said the lack of record keeping at the GRA is enough to show that some personnel of the institution embezzle taxes paid them.
Ken Agyapong further added that he know of foreigners who have taken advantage of this and are not paying taxes.
He has therefore called on government and concerned citizens to start taking the GRA on as they are fast becoming one of the failed institutions of state.
