2020 Elections: Never trust ‘try me and see’ politicians, they’re dangerous – Mahama

Former President, John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to stop believing that politicians who come calling on them to ‘try me’ can achieve any success when given the mandate.

According to him, the abysmal performance of the current President, Nana Akufo-Addo is enough testimony that the ‘try me’ politicians have nothing good to offer Ghanaians.

President Akufo-Addo during the 2016 elections always appealed to voters to try him as according to him, he was ever prepared to change Ghana for better.

But the current hardships, John Mahama who is also the NDC flagbearer for the 2020 elections, told NDC supporters in London should tell them that it is always important to look at politicians who come calling ‘try me’ twice.

“I think that Ghanaians are more discerning now…after what we’ve all gone through, any politician who comes dangling promises before you, you’ll look at him twice…or, if any politician comes to you and says, try me’, you’ll turn and run away,” the former said during the meeting.

The former President also informed the NDC supporters that he is contesting the 2020 elections so he can offer Ghanaians hope through a practical manifesto.

“And, so, times are not easy but we want to give our people hope, we’re on a rescue mission: to rescue the fate of our people in their democracy and we are starting that with the manifesto we’ll present; it’ll be a very practical manifesto that incorporates their concerns and we’ll work together and communicate to Ghanaians every step of the way, the implementation of that manifesto,” he added.
