The Member of Parliament (MP) for Elembele, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has threatened to place an injunction on the upcoming referendum on the election of MMDCEs if the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) fails to address challenges in the electoral register in his constituency before the date for the referendum.
The former Minister for Petroleum told ABN’s Prince Joe Boadi in an interview that the Electoral Commission has failed to heed their complaints about the anomalies in their electoral roll and hence called on all meaning Ghanaians to intervene.
He explained that the EC registered about 6300 people at Elembelle constituency, but when the register was opened in June 2019 for verification, it was found out that about 5,000 out of the 6,300 names could not be found in the register.
He added that there has been series of demonstrations and a formal written petition to the District Electoral Commission in his area to do everything possible in addressing their complaints but to no avail.
Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has finally sent a word of caution to the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah and her deputies that if they fail to address his concerns before the Referendum, he will head to the court to place an injunction on the elections.
