The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrissu has called for the punishment of persons involved in the Power Distribution Service (PDS) saga.
The Government of Ghana lost $190 million which was the second tranche of the Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC) following the cancellation of the ECG-PDS contract.
Commenting on this in an interview in Parliament, Haruna Iddrissu said persons who played various roles in the PDS saga ought to be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
“Conversely, this will amount to financial loss to the state of Ghana and persons must be held responsible and accountable for this…,” he opined.
To him, Ghana would have benefited more from the agreement if the persons put in charge has been more diligent.
“Conversely, we could term this as financial loss to the state arising out of the reckless, fraudulent and irresponsible action of the government in misleading the government and misleading the entire nation without thorough and diligent scrutiny of the documents that they submitted to government…,” he said.
