Six persons lost their lives while 12 others sustained varied degrees of injuries when a sprinter bus collided head on with truck carrying cement on Sunday morning at Akyem Nsutam in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region.
The sprinter bus which was white in colour and was full of passengers with registration number AW 221-14 was heading towards Accra from Kumasi while the truck with registration number, GE 1465 – 12 was heading towards Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses told Angelfmonlinegh.com that the sprinter bus which was over speeding in an attempt to overtake other vehicles collided with the cement truck.
The mate of the sprinter bus died on the spot while the two drivers and the mate of the cement truck sustained injuries.
The injured were conveyed to the Kyebi Government Hospital, Osiem Hospital and Hawa Memorial hospital while the dead were taken to a morgue at Kyebi.
A coconut seller was also injured after the cement truck veered off the road and hit him.
