Deputy Communications Minister, George Andah has dispelled rumours that the Government of Ghana will be shutting down social media in the days leading to the 2020 elections.

The Deputy Minister said the government has no such intention insisting that the Akufo-Addo government is committed to ensuring that free speech.

The comment of the deputy Minister is in reaction to claims by a Social Media Commentator and blogger, Kelvin Taylor that the government plans to shut down social media on the election day.

This, he said is part of plans by the government to negatively influence the outcome of the polls.

But the Deputy Minister speaking at a conference added his voice to that of his Boss, Ursula Owusu that government has no such intentions.
