Gov’t trying to change shareholding structure in PDS deal – NDC alleges

The main opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) has claimed that the Government of Ghana is trying to clandestinely appropriate the assets of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). 

According to the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the government has made attempts to restructure the shareholding of PDS.

The party claimed government has deliberately transferred the 30% shares owned by Meralco Consortium in the PDS agreement to Meridian Power Ventures which intends to take over the role played by Meralco in the agreement of managing Ghana’s power.

The NDC at a press conference addressed by their General Secretary cited a letter which they claimed is evidence that Meridian Power Ventures Limited introduced itself to the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) as the company which now owns 30% in the PDS deal.
