We’re surprised Johnson Smith left us for Kotoko – Karela Boss


The General Manager of Karela United Football Club, Mr Lawrence Cudjoe has stated that the departure of their head coach, Johnson Smith to Kumasi Asante Kotoko took the club by surprise.

Speaking to news men, the General Manager of the Ayinase based side said ‘Johnson Smith’s move to Asante Kotoko took Karela FC by surprise because his contract with the club hadn’t ended’.

Johnson Smith was confirmed as the assistant coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Friday following the departure of Akakpo Patron whose contract was not extended by the Kumasi side.

Mr. Cudjoe added that the club have assigned former captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Isaac Paha to get them a new coach and the new appointment is set to be confirmed on Thursday 17th of October.

“Johnson Smith’s replacement will be named by Thursday,” he said.

He concluded that the recent dissolved management positions of the club will be opened for advertisement for people who are interested in to apply.

‘Karela FC will soon advertise for vacant positions for interested persons to apply,’ he said.
