The Western Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described chiefs from the Western Region as ‘greedy’ people who only fight for their interests and not that of the region.
In an audio played on Angel News on Friday, Mr Francis Ndede Siah said that Chiefs from the Western Region unlike their colleagues in other regions always walk the corridors of power to push for their ‘selfish’ interests.
He said, chiefs from the Western Region have always been approaching the President to ask that he betters their lots and not that of the region.
According to him, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo confided in him that the Western Region ‘lacks the men to fight for their interests’.
“When the President goes to Kumasi, he sleeps in the house of Otumfou, this affords him the opportunity to go there and fight for the interests of Asanteman, Ofori Amoatia [Amotia Ofori Panyin] goes to the President and fight for the interests of Akyem. But what do we see when it comes to case, who does that? And do they go and speak for themselves or the region…I think they go to speak for themselves..,” he was heard saying in an interview aired on Empire FM in Takoradi.
The comments of the Western Regional Chairman of the NPP come after the President of Nzemamanle Council, Awulae Angamah Tuagan criticized the National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay for neglecting the region he hails from.
The chief claimed that NPP Chairman has neglected his people in terms of fronting for developmental needs of his people.
But the NPP Western Regional Chairman disagrees, as according to him, the Chiefs ought to blame themselves other the politicians.
He indicated that if the chiefs learn from the likes of Asantehene and Okyenhene, Western Region will see development.
