Highlife artiste, Ronald Kwaku Dei Appiah, known in showbiz as Bisa K’dei has opined that highlife legend, Amakye Dede ‘bought pressure’ for colleague highlife, Kuami Eugene when he crowned him the next king of the genre.
The ‘serious’ man crowned Kuami Eugene at the 2019 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) as the next king of highlife.
The crown generated lots of controversy with critics commenting that Kuami Eugene never deserved to be crowned the next king of highlife.
Commenting on this on Angel FM’s mid-morning show, ‘Y’Adwuma Nie’, hosted by DJ Ohemaa Woyeje, Bisa Kdei said Amakye Dede put unnecessary pressure on the ‘young talent’ by crowning him the future King of highlife music in the country.
To him, the crown was unnecessary arguing that would put unnecessary pressure on the highlife artiste.
“The guy is really doing a good job, by crowning him, you put a lot of pressure on him because much will now be expected from him…,” he said.
According to him, Kwame Eugene is now going to struggle to please Ghanaians as people will hardly be okay with whatever song he will release.
“…It will be like whatever he brings out, people will be hardly pleased with it so to me personally, I think it was unnecessary…,” he added.
He however believed that Kuami Eugune deserves lots of awards because he’s done a lot…,” he said.
