Two people are in the custody of the Bimbila Police for allegedly unleashing bees on National Identification Authority (NIA) officials working at Chamba in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region.
ASP Evans Vovo, the District Police Commander revealed that the suspect went to the registration center at the Chamba Old market and insisted that he should be registered.
Some residents who were already at the centre and have formed a queue objected to this.
Their reaction infuriated him leading him to threaten to cause commotion at the center. He further threatened that he will not allow the registration officers to complete the registration in peace. He then left the scene.
The District Police Commander said that few minutes after the suspect departed from the center, a swarm of bees came from a Baobab tree near the center to attack the residents and the registration officers.
“The bees do not disturb unless someone disturbs them, the swam has been on the baobab tree for centuries, so we suspected him for such an obnoxious act of unleashing the swarm of bees because he passed that comment to create confusion,” the Police Officer said.
Meanwhile, the Assembly member of the area, Mr. Timothy David has assured resident that all measures have been put in place to ensure that the bees are relocated so the registration for the Ghana card go on smoothly.
