The integrity and credibility of the chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vetting Committee, Frank-Davies, has come under serious questioning following a damning claim from the camps of GFA Presidential hopeful, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer.
According to a revelation on Accra-based Angel FM’s Sports show “The Floodlight”, Lawyer Frank Davies is alleged to have been caught in a serious conflict of interest in the discharge of his duties as the chairman of the Election Committee’s vetting panel.
Wilfred Kwaku Osei, popularly known as Palmer was disqualified from the GFA presidential race following a report by the Vetting Committee published last week.
Palmer was considered as one of the front runners for the top position but it appears that he failed the integrity test after appearing before the Vetting Committee.
But according to his camp, the Tema Youth owner was targeted in a grand scheme perpetrated by the chairman of the committee to prevent him from contesting.
Takyi Arhin, a campaign director of Osei Kwaku Palmer, revealed that Lawyer Frank Davies had an ulterior motive to witch-hunt the Tema youth owner.
“We have very damaging exposés but we have just remained silent just to allow for the appeal process to be exhausted”, Takyi Arhin said in an interview with Saddick Adams Obama.
“How can he (Frank Davies) act as a personal lawyer for the Normalization Committee President to the extent that he is currently leading his divorce case in court against his wife and same person is allowed to supervise a vetting where this man Kofi Amoah has an interest?
“Kofi Amoah some months ago instructed Frank Davies to write to Palmer demanding payment for a commission of a transferred player.
“This was way before he was made vetting committee chairman and he wrote this letter in his capacity as a private legal practitioner with his letter heard and not that of the GFA.
“We in team Palmer believe that this singular act is a massive conflict of interest which should have barred Frank Davies from being appointed as the Vetting Committee chairman.
“We have very very serious issues of his personal relationship with Dr Kofi Amoah and their plans to receive this payment from Palmer under surreptitious circumstances and the same payment came under the spotlight at the vetting”, he alleged on the show.
Osei Kwaku Palmer has since appealed his disqualification but the latest revelation will further cast doubt on the credibility and genuineness of the Vetting Committee.
