Free SHS ‘best initiative’ for Ghana’s Dev’t – Bonwire Chief

The paramount chief of Bonwire has commended the Government of Ghana over the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

Nana Bobie Ansah said Ghana’s development is highly hinged on quality education hence it must be the priority of every government to ensure the development of the country through quality education.

“I commend the Government of President Akufo-Addo for implementing the Free SHS policy because of its impact on the country and the youth,” Nana Bobie said at the launch of Asante Bonwire Kente festival held at Bonwire in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The event is being held with the collaboration of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

He added that “every Ghanaian should realize that the desired development can’t be achieved if children in the country are not properly educated and it’s the responsibility of every Ghanaian child to acquire a level of formal education irrespective of financial background.”

Bonwire is one of the oldest communities in the Ashanti Region and has been the home of the beautiful Kente clothes. This attracts lots of tourists to the community.

The tourism potential of the town notwithstanding, the road network connecting Bonwire to the adjoining communities is nothing to write home about.

But the chief commended the government for awarding the road on contract. He however stated that he expects that the road will be completed soon.
