National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, has claimed that the President, Nana Akufo-Addo knows and approved the implementation of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in schools.
According to him, the President gave his consent to the programme before the Education Ministry and the Ghana Education Service (GES) decided to roll it out.
“If the President does not know anything about this, it wouldn’t have been implemented, he knows about it that is why the Ministry is deciding to implement it…,” he said on UTV as monitored by Angelfmonlinegh.com.
The NDC MP said there was no way the Director of Education or the Minister could take the decision to implement such a controversial policy without the consent of the President.
“Do you think the Minister of Education or the director could just get up and decide to implement such a policy while the President looks on unconcerned? The President knows everything about it, it’s just a follow up to the statement made by the President during the interview on Aljazeera…,” he claimed.
Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu who was on the show with him however refuted his suggestion.
“It’s not true…,” he said repeatedly.
There’s been a heated debate on the implementation of the CSE which some religious institutions describing it as ‘satanic’.
Others have also threatened to embark on demonstration if the Ministry of Education goes ahead and introduce CSE into schools.
