The Board of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) has instructed its management to pursue all beneficiaries for recoveries of monies owed the state and take legal actions against marketing board of the defunct Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NDA, Abdul Majeed Haroun disclosed that out of the total of GHS33, 649,200 expected from the sale of some 5,000 tricycles procured by the defunct SADA in 2015, only GHS1,258,271 payments have been made by the beneficiaries.
This is less than 4% leaving an outstanding balance of GHS32,390,929.
“This is 96% loss totaling over $8,000,000 to an Economic Zone that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in their 2018 Human Welfare study acknowledge as the poorest in Ghana. It is unfortunate and constitutes a serious financial loss to the state,” NADA said in a statement.
In view of this, NADA has sent the strongest signal that NADA will soon begin selling tricycles which has been left to ‘rot’.
