You’d have been armed robbers and teenage mothers but for Free SHS – Minister to beneficiaries

Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson has called on beneficiaries of the government’s flagbship policy, Free Senior High School (SHS) to be very grateful to the President for the initiative.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region told the beneficiaries to show appreciation to the government as according to her, some of the beneficiaries would have been teenage mothers or armed robbers.

The MP said this when she toured some constituencies in her constituency.

“…if not for free SHS the girls some of you would have been pregnant by now. And the boys some of you would have been armed robbers. But thanks be to Free SHS and His Excellency the President Nana Akufo Addo. Very soon you will become assets to this country,” Hawa Koomson said to students.

The Minister also donated to the schools during her tour. The NPP government introduced the free SHS policy upon assumption of office.
