Former President, Jerry John Rawlings has tasked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ostracise his appointees who are being investigated for various acts of corruption.
Speaking at the National Cadres Conference in Kumasi, the former President said corruption ought not to be tolerated at every level of governance and hence is demanding that persons accused of using their positions in government for personal gains must not be tolerated at all.
“Any crooks and/or personnel in positions of authority exposed by institutional investigations as having been corrupted by the power and authority they wield, must be thrown out and treated with the contempt they deserve, before such institutions imbibe their deformed characters,” he said.
The former President who was speaking to a charged crowd said corruption at all levels of governance has been the bane of the country’s development hence insisting that the President takes strict action on that.
Flt Lt Rawlings has been an anti-corruption campaigner since leaving office in 2000. He is noted for accusing his political opponents of being corrupt.
