PHOTOS: How Riot Police took over Manhyia

The entrance to the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene was the centre of attraction in Kumasi on Friday morning.

Riot Police clad in full gear sealed off the entrance to the palace as part of efforts to prevent angry members of the Kumasi Youth Association from presenting a petition to Otumfour Osei Tutu II.

Members of the Association who were clad in red and black attire were earlier prevented from staging their planned protest against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for failing to fix Kumasi roads.

The Police stopped this after they secured a injunction from the Kumasi High Court restraining all members of KUYA from staging the demonstration.

The demonstration follows an earlier one staged by some residents of Abuakwa-Tanoso to demand the completion of the Sofoline Interchange and other roads in the area.

The residents threatened to travel to the Jubilee House and stage a naked demonstration if the government fails to heed to their demands.
