Troubled parliamentary candidate hopeful for the Asawase Constituency, Manaf Ibrahim says he suspects that some money has changed hands amongst the top hierarchy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, relating to circumstances that led to his indefinite suspension from the party yesterday.
The presidential staffer, according to Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, Samuel Payne has been handed an indefinite suspension for violating the party rules and regulations and showing disrespect to the Regional Executive Committee of the party, following two separate petitions against him.
This would mean that Manaf Ibrahim would be ineligible to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries in the Asawase Constituency though he has been vetted, if the suspension is not lifted before the date of poll.
The aspirant weeks ago sidestepped a decision by the party in the region to allow for some candidates to contest unopposed at the primary noting that the directive was in sharp contravention of the rules and regulations of the party’s constitution.
Speaking on the new development with KT on Angel In The Morning today, Manaf Ibrahim said, he suspects that the regional secretary, Samule Payne has taken some money as rumours have it, to frustrate his ambition to become the Asawase candidate for the NPP in the 2020 elections.
But Samuel Payne, who also spoke with KT said he cannot be blamed for the woes of the aspirant because the decision to suspend him was a collective one, endorsed unanimously by all the members of the Regional Executive Committee.
